Silo liner
Aquatex
A water storage system is only complete when a waterproof liner (silo liner) has been fitted inside. Aquatex is the password for lining silos. Password here means that you must reflect first before passing to your choice. Aquatex is a foil that has been designed specially for horticulture use. Because the requirements and wishes can vary from user to user there are several sorts available. In all cases the liners are supplied to size.
Silo liners
The silo liners can be supplied as 5 different types and in any desired size:
Aquatex EX black, thickness 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm
Very high quality foil, suitable for storage of rainwater or clean water and recirculation water. Aquatex EX is particularly suitable for applications where high requirements are made for the temperature, UV resistance and high chemical resistance. Aquatex PVC black, thickness 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm
Drinking water quality with KIWA-ATA approval, suitable for storage of rainwater and clean water. Click on the tab Linings > Aquatex PVC for a complete product description.
Aquatex PVC PLUS grey, thickness 0.5 mm
Drinking water quality with high UV resistance, specially for areas with a high number of sun hours (also for use in greenhouses with artificial climate). Click on the tab Linings > Aquatex PVC Plus for a complete product description.
Draintex black, thickness 0.5 mm
Suitable for rainwater, source water and recirculation / drainage water, exceptionally suitable for export purposes because of the great advantage of glueing. UV stabilised. Click on the tab Linings > Draintex for a complete product description.
Aquatex EPDM black, thickness 0.75 and 1.0 mm
EPDM is a synthetic high-tech rubber. EPDM = Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer.
The high elasticity and the high resistance to ozone and UV radiation in particular make this material very suitable for water sealing but also for water capture. Click on the tab Linings > EPDM Firestone for a complete product description.
Lining the silo
When fitting the liner to the silo we begin with the protection of the foil on the inside of the silo. We have 2 types of product for this.
Polyester inner liner 300 g/m²
Used as protection between the steel silo wall and the Aquatex lining. The polyester blanket is most often used in the 300 g/m² form but if desired can also be supplied in the 500 g/m² form. We often see this used in concrete silos.
Bottom felt 500 g/m²
Used as protection for the foil against sharp parts or unevenness on the bottom of the silo. This extra protection is optional, however, in the case of a concrete surface or a rough surface it is required in order to guarantee the lifetime and waterproof properties of the foil.
