ML 40

Genap is introducing a new mineral product for use among other things in rubbish dump seals. This product has an expected lifetime that is far superior to conventional seals.

This new and innovative product consists of a sophisticated mixture of minerals that can be used as a top seal in combination with Genaseal 20 HDPE 2 mm foil.

The ML40 sealing construction is the result of an innovative view of the sealing of rubbish dumps and more than complies with the requirements of the Rubbish dump decree. Sita allows this innovation and instructed GMB to seal the Mesiner rubbish dump in Ubbena (Drenthe) with ML40 mats.
 
The sealing construction ML40 has important advantages both in the construction phase and afterwards.

During the construction the factory production method makes us less dependent on the weather so that higher construction rates and a shorter preparation period can be achieved. As well as this, a sustainable seal is achieved with a proven lifetime expectation of 100 years instead of the usual 50 to 75 years.
 
This has a major impact on the capital that has to be reserved in the so-called after care fund. The required capital can be significantly reduced if the expected lifetime is extended by 25 years to 100 years.       
 
Seeing that very large sums are involved here this makes ML40 a very attractive alternative economically. Kiwa NV in Rijswijk has certified the Genap process system for construction using ML 40. It is, therefore, now possible to apply the mineral layer (ML40) and the HDPE foil under certification.
