EPDM

EPDM is a synthetic high-tech rubber. EPDM = Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer.

The high elasticity and the high resistance to ozone and UV radiation in particular make this material very suitable for water sealing but also for water capture.

Types of EPDM:
We have 2 types of EPDM foils available at Genap at present:

Firestone EPDM reservoir foil
Application:
The Firestone EPDM foil is primarily used for lining water reservoirs and (decorative) ponds in a standard thickness of 1.02 mm.

Production:
Standard roll widths are processed to prefab large sheets in the factory as far as possible that can then be joined on site into one large closed lining. Sheets up to about 2500 m² can be prefabricated in production.

Only flat sheets can be made prefab. Shaped liners can only be made on site. This applies particularly to decorative ponds.

Working:
Firestone EPDM can only be worked according to the splice tape system and by means of glueing. Working on site is strongly dependent on the relative humidity.

Guarantee:
A guarantee of 10 years (decreasing per month) is given on both the material and the work (connections).

Aquatex® EPDM silo liner
Application:
The Aquatex® EPDM silo liner is used for lining water and manure storage silos. Material thicknesses of 0.75 and 1.0 mm are used as standard for water and manure storage respectively.

Production/Positioning:
The silo liner is produced to size and tensioned on the outside by a black strap and ratchet clasp combination. Labels on the outside also serve as loops to hang the straps in order to make fitting easier.

Working:
All connections in the silo liner are made by vulcanization. The material can also be glued using sealant/glue.

Lead-throughs:
Lead-throughs can be made prefab in the silo liner to order of the customer. The customer must indicate the pipe diameter and position in the liner for this.

Guarantee:
A guarantee of 10 years (decreasing per month) is given on both the material and the work (connections).

Specific advantages of EPDM:

  • High elasticity (up to 400%) over a large temperature range (-40°C < T < 120°C)
  • Good chemical, thermal and UV resistance
  • Exceptionally suitable for long-term storage of hot water (90° - 95°C)
  • Long lifetime (> 20 years, dependent on the conditions and application)
