Clamp feed cover
A large part of the raw feed is stored in rows of clamps. These are covered with a good quality clamp foil. To give your valuable clamp feed better protection it is recommended that the foil is covered with a GENATEX 1000 protective sheet or a GENAFIL protective sheet.
Instructions for use of Genap ballast sacks and protective sheeting
Foil:
-
Cover your grass or maize clamp immediately after clamping with new, good quality foil about 0.15 mm thick
-
The foil must be wide enough to allow fixing down on all sides or digging in
-
Lay the protective sheets loosely over the foil, only weighted down in places. This prevents damage from birds during the early stages
-
Pull the foil tight after a few days
Genafil or Genatex 1000 protective sheets:
-
Then fit the protective sheets permanently making sure of the following:
-
Allow the sheets to overlap each other by about 50 cm
-
Fix the sheets with a strap pulled through the loops (do not use rope)
-
Fix the sides of the sheets using sand gullies. The sand gullies may only be ¾ full (do not use heaps of sand to avoid frost damage)
-
Check the quality of the clamped feed regularly. Repair any damage to the foil immediately
-
Press an open broken edge of the clamp down well using sand gullies to prevent wind blowing in
-
A good, well-rounded and firmly pressed down clamp is more easily covered and gives fewer problems
-
Fold up the sheets one at a time after the clamp has been emptied and store them in a shed. If necessary clean with a jet of water
